Berlin Centre for Higher Education
The Berlin Center for Higher Education is financed by all 13 public universities and colleges in the Federal State of Berlin, who have cosigned a long-term cooperation agreement.
The BZHL’s role is to offer a range of qualifications to teaching professionals of all status groups (i.e. professors, as well as academic and technical staff). Proposals are developed and calibrated together with existing advanced training facilities at the universities and colleges in Berlin, in particular: the ZEWK (Central Service for Scientific Training and Cooperation at the TU Berlin), the department for professional development at Humboldt University, the Centre for Advanced Training at the Freie Universität in Berlin, as well as e-learning representatives and experts at the larger universities and colleges.
The BZHL’s work and activities are monitored by a steering committee, to which as a rule all participating universities are affiliated by means of their vice presidents for teaching and learning.
A scientific advisory body, consisting of one representative from each of the three types of higher education institutions and three experts, counsels the BZHL on professional design and strategy.
